To ensure a safe, positive, and well-organized experience for all student-athletes, all coaches are required to complete the following screening and safety requirements before participating in practices or games.
These requirements apply to Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, and Co-Coaches.
Screening is required for volunteers who:
Lead or coach athletes during practices or games
Provide instruction or supervision on the field or sideline
Screening is NOT required for team helpers serving strictly administrative roles (such as team aides, scorekeepers, or snack coordinators).
All coaches must:
Be at least 18 years of age
Complete all required safety training
Pass a background check
At least one approved coach listed on the team roster must be present at all practices and games.
If a substitute is needed, that individual must also complete the required screening prior to participating.
Ohio law requires all coaches to complete Sudden Cardiac Arrest education.
Coaches must:
View the required SCA video
Review the required SCA informational handout
These resources are provided during the online volunteer registration process and are completed as part of registration.
All coaches must complete one of the following free, online concussion training programs:
NFHS: Concussion in Sports
CDC: Heads Up to Youth Sports
Certificates are valid for three years and must not expire during the season you are coaching.

Background checks are:
Initiated and paid for by Jr Pacers Youth Football and Cheer, Inc.
Requested after all other requirements are completed
Once eligible, coaches will receive an email link (valid for 72 hours) from Jr Pacers’ contracted vendor to authorize the background check.
Please note:
Background checks completed through other vendors will not be accepted
Results are provided directly to Jr Pacers and remain confidential
To ensure safety and compliance:
Team rosters, schedules, uniforms, and equipment will be released once all coaching requirements are completed
Program directors and commissioners are responsible for verifying compliance
These steps help protect our athletes, families, and volunteers.
